Welcome to Novel Forge ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our website at mintybug.ai and any related services (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. Users who are minors may not access adult-rated content; see our Underage Policy for details.

By using the Platform you represent that: (a) all information you provide is accurate and current; (b) you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms; and (c) your use complies with all applicable laws.

2. Account Registration & Security

You may register using Google OAuth or a verified email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@mintybug.ai if you suspect unauthorised access. We reserve the right to disable accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Description of Services

Novel Forge is an AI-powered interactive fiction platform. We offer:

  • Template creation — author reusable story frameworks with characters, settings, and branching plot structures.
  • AI story generation — generate narrative chapters, outcomes, and events using third-party AI models (OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Google Gemini, xAI Grok).
  • Interactive gameplay — play through AI-generated stories, make choices, and save progress.
  • Token economy — purchase tokens to play templates and earn tokens when others play yours.
  • Creator payouts — withdraw earned tokens as real currency via Stripe Connect.
  • Writer's Guide — upload novels to teach AI your preferred writing style.
  • Bookshelf — save and organise published stories.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.

4. Token Economy & Payments

4.1 Purchasing Tokens

Tokens are virtual credits used to access paid content on the Platform. All token purchases are processed by Stripe. Prices are displayed at checkout and may include applicable taxes. Tokens have no monetary value outside the Platform and are non-transferable between accounts.

4.2 Refunds

Token purchases are generally non-refundable once consumed. Unconsumed tokens purchased in error may be refunded within 14 days of purchase by contacting support. We comply with applicable consumer protection laws, including EU/UK statutory rights where mandatory.

4.3 Creator Earnings

When other users play your published templates, you earn tokens that can be withdrawn as real currency. Withdrawals are processed via Stripe Connect and are subject to Stripe's terms and minimum payout thresholds. We are not liable for delays or failures attributable to Stripe. Earnings may be forfeited if your account is suspended for policy violations.

4.4 Taxes

You are solely responsible for any taxes applicable to your earnings. We may be required to collect tax information (e.g., W-9/W-8) before processing payouts where legally mandated.

5. User-Generated Content

5.1 Your Content, Your Responsibility

You retain ownership of original content you create (templates, characters, descriptions, uploaded novels). By posting content on the Platform, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely to operate and improve the Platform.

5.2 AI-Generated Content

Story text generated by AI models in response to your prompts may not be original and may not be protectable under copyright law in all jurisdictions. You acknowledge that similar outputs may be generated for other users. We make no claim of ownership over AI outputs but also make no warranty of their originality or non-infringement.

5.3 Content Standards

All content you create or upload must comply with our Blocked Content Policy and Underage Policy. You must not post content that:

  • Is illegal, defamatory, harassing, threatening, or fraudulent.
  • Depicts minors in a sexual context — this is an absolute prohibition resulting in immediate account termination and referral to law enforcement.
  • Infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
  • Contains malware, phishing links, or deceptive material.
  • Promotes violence, terrorism, or hate speech targeting protected characteristics.

5.4 Content Moderation

We use automated moderation tools and human review. We reserve the right to remove any content at our sole discretion without prior notice. Repeat violations result in permanent account termination.

6. Intellectual Property

The Novel Forge name, logo, software, design, and documentation are owned by or licenced to us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our Platform without express written consent.

6.1 DMCA / Copyright Complaints

If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, please send a notice to dmca@mintybug.ai including: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification of the allegedly infringing material; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement of good-faith belief; and (e) your signature. We will process valid notices in accordance with the DMCA and equivalent laws.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Platform.
  • Use automated bots, scrapers, or scripts to access the Platform without our written consent.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract our AI model configurations or proprietary prompts.
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent bans or token restrictions.
  • Sell, trade, or transfer your account or tokens to another person.
  • Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities instead of responsibly disclosing them to us.
  • Engage in any conduct that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.

8. Third-Party Services

The Platform integrates with third-party providers including Stripe (payments), Google (authentication), OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Google Gemini, and xAI Grok (AI generation), PostHog (analytics), and Resend/Postmark (email). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party providers.

9. Disclaimers

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES.

AI-generated story content is for entertainment purposes only. It may be inaccurate, offensive, or inconsistent. We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL NOVEL FORGE, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Novel Forge and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your User Content; or (c) your violation of any third-party rights.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, with or without notice, at our sole discretion. You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account. Upon termination, your right to access the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will do so.

13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall first be submitted to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

If you are located in the EU or UK, nothing in these Terms limits your rights under mandatory local consumer protection laws, including the right to bring a claim before your local courts.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent in-platform notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
